Earl "Speedoo" Carroll was a founding member of iconic doo-wop early rock 'n' roll group The Cadillacs, whose eponymous hit "Speedo" was heard on radio stations across the U.S. in 1955.

The word "iconic" isn't used lightly here, in that before Earl's time singers would do just that...stand at the microphone and sing. Earl adopted the stage/film approach to musician/singers and for the first time you had singers and backup singers all in motion in a trend that would reverberate down through Motown to Mick Jagger to Michael Jackson and the MTV Generation to rappers hip-hoppers and to just about everybody around these days.
